More gelatine fun

probably could've done a better job on this one.  I forgot how hard it is to do make-up on yourself.  This is just me still playing around with gelatine, I thought I'd try it on my face though, to see how it looked.  It doesn't really look like a complete zombie style without a slightly greenish tinge and sunken eyes...perhaps I'll try that later.

I didn't take photos of this, but when I was taking the gelatine off it looked like torn, dangling skin.  Something to try and document next time!

Raashi Malik

A few months ago, a friend of mine, Raashi, asked me to do her makeup for her EP release gig here in Wellington.  It was a beautiful show and I was so happy to contribute to her big night.

The pictures were taken by David St George, and you can visit Raashi's Myspace page here, and her Facebook page here.

Like my experience making-up Cass, I didn't have to do much for Raashi either.  My friends are beautiful.

Cats

While I was training in 2008, me and 3 of my classmates were lucky enough to do work experience on the Wellington season of Cats.  Being awesome, I've managed to lose a lot of the pictures I had.  But here are a few I have salvaged from the wreck that is my badly organised computer.  It was a great show to work on, and I still remember all the words to pretty much every song.

Experimenting

About a week ago I received some incredible books in the mail, after being recommended them by the one and only Gino Acevedo (I have sweet connections, and he is a very friendly and helpful man).  I've started looking through them, and decided to spend one of my afternoons playing around with some of the materials the book recommended.  As luck should have it, I had most of this stuff in my kit or around home - cheap fun is the best fun!  I just used greasepaint to colour the wounds, and powdered where necessary.

This was my very first attempt at using gelatine...for anything...ever.
And yes, it's the gelatine that you can buy at the supermarket for about $4.  Thrifty!

More gelatine fun.  It dries incredibly fast, so working quickly
to get the look you want is important.

This effect was created using morticians wax, which I conveniently
had in my kit.

Extra pics from 'So Free' shoot.

Here are a couple of pictures from the 'So Free' video shoot.  I should've taken more, it's a habit I need to get myself into.

So Free video

Here's another music video I worked on, by the now defunct Auckland band, The Rickshaws.  It was a busy but fun weekend spent working with my classmate, Emma, doing some interesting makeups (especially on the lads!).  Also, MAD props for lead singer, Rita, who had to dive into that freezing cold water several times.  What a trooper.

Our Dream video

Here's a music video I worked on about 2 years ago.  I say 'worked', but it was actually more fun than work.  I spent the day with Cassette and the director of the video, Rod, basically just hanging out and having a laugh.
